Default Bolt Circle On Rover Wheels

We've been asked on numerous occasions what the lug bolt pattern size is on Land Rovers, and if this wheel will fit that car, etc. Well I decided to put it here for those of you who need the information.

All of the early Rovers shared the same bolt circle, although they didn't necessarily share the same sized lugs! Classics, Discovery Series 1, Defenders and most Series cars used a 5 bolt lug pattern that was on a 6 1/2 inch bolt circle. With only a few exceptions, almost all of these wheels will swap around. The exceptions are basically regarding disc brake wheels can be used on drum brake applications, but not the reverse. And, only the Series III 88 and 109 bodies had the large lug used on the later cars.

Then in 1995 the P-38 New Body Range Rover appeared, and the 4.6 HSE version had these really cool 18 inch wheels. But alas, many hearts were broken when it was discovered that the new car had a much smaller lug pattern than the earlier cars. This one was a 5 lug wheel too, but that was where the similarities ended! This wheel was based on a 120mm, (that's millimeters) bolt circle, and it also sported a slightly different offset. Then to make things worse, in 2003 the Rangie had Bimmer hubs that had yet another change in offset and hub diameter.

Even tho there are "adapters" available on the market that claim that you can strap these wheels on the earlier car, I have serious reservations about doing so, and as a result we will not sell them! Be careful when swapping wheels around with adapters. They really don't always fit as advertised, and could be dangerous!
